Summer, as fun as it is, can throw us off track and
we can end up losing our motivation.
If left unchecked, it can quickly become the
“winter of our discontent.”
One of the best motivational speeches I’ve seen
in a movie in recent years was from “Rocky” – the
one where Rocky gets back in the ring at age 50-
Kinda far-fetched, sure, but it was a great movie
about life and how we interact with each other and
Winning even while losing.
Anyway, it’s a dark and rainy night and Rocky is
talking to his son outside his restaurant.
Here’s the gist of his speech:
“Let me tell you something you already know: The
world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very
mean and nasty place… and I don´t care how tough
you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep
you there permanently, if you let it.
You, me or nobody, is gonna hit as hard as life.
But ain’t about how hard you hit… It’s about how
hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward…
How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That´s
how winning is done.
Now, if you know what you worth, go out and get what
you worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits.
And not pointing fingers saying: You ain´t what you
wanna be because of him or her or anybody. Cowards do
that and that ain´t you! You´re better than that!…
But until you start believing in yourself, you ain’t
gonna have a life.”
Now get out of the hammock, put down the fruity drink,
and get back to work.
Your goals and your life are waiting.
P.S. This will help get you back on track.
P.P.S. Here’s the video if you want to watch it:
