Is “Kettlebell STRONG!” REALLY For Women?

You may not know this, but I think women should be strong.

How strong?

VERY strong.

“Sure you do, Geoff, you’re just trying to sell me something.”

I’ll prove it.

My wife.

I was her strength coach when she played volleyball in college.

Under my training, she was able to do a barbell hang power clean with her bodyweight – for a couple of reps.

And, my favorite, she was able to squat double her bodyweight below parallel.

And – in 2009 she became an RKC (Russian Kettlebell Challenge Kettlebell Instructor.)

I think you’ll agree – strong AND feminine.

Furthermore, one of my all-time favorite clients was a lady named Minta Bell.

She and I started training when she was 63 when her back and knees “went out” – and her trainer handed her over to me.

We stopped training when I left North Carolina. She was 71. And she could deadlift her bodyweight – for reps.

And do 10 minutes of swing intervals with 20% of her bodyweight.

So, yeah, I not only believe that women should be strong, I have spent my career helping them do so.

Then there was Connie Bossen.

Also one of my favorites.

She is a whopping 108 pounds soaking wet.

When she and I first started training in 2001, she struggled to press an 8 pound dumbbell over her head in her early 50s.

When I left NC in 2013, she routinely pressed pressed a 26 pound KB, and could do a Snatch Test with it, in her early 60s.

Point is –

I think you get my point.

If you’re a woman reading this, you need to be strong.

If you’re worried or concerned about losing fat, getting strong and putting on some well needed muscle mass in all the right places – hips, shoulders, legs, and arms –

Will take care of most of those trouble spots you hate looking at in the mirror.

It sounds counterintuitive. Or at the very least – counter-cultural.

Because it is.

Yet it’s how I’ve trained my wife and all my female clients for my entire career – which is over 20 years now.
