KB V. QZE (Like The Terminator)

I don’t know if you ever saw the original movie, “The Terminator.”

It was pretty unnerving the first time I saw it as a kid.

It wasn’t the threat of nuclear war or any of that.

It was the fact that the Terminator was relentless.

He had one mission and one program:

Kill Sarah Connor.

That was it.

No matter what it took.

I love Kyle Reese’s quote to Sarah Connor when trying to explain
the Terminator to her:

“It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t
feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop,
ever, until you are dead.”

In a way, we are like the Terminator.

We have thoughts and behaviors that are deeply engrained in our
subconscious minds, that literally drive us to do what we do.

And we learn/develop these by a quantum physics principle called
the QZE –

Or Quantum Zeno Effect.

It’s the repeated effort of something that causes learning to take
place.

To quote Dr. Carolyn Leaf, author of the book, “Switch On Your
Brain” –

“When you go over and over something, reading it, thinking about
it, writing it down, and then repeating this process, you deepen
your knowledge and understanding, direct your attention, and grow
nerve cells. The neurons in your brain line up and fire together
because you are firing synapses over and over, which causes genetic
expression to happen and makes the synapses and proteins stronger.
The changes in your brain caused by this deep, repeated,
intellectually targeted focus can be seen with brain imaging
techniques.

“Basically, the QZE stipulates that your brain becomes what you
focus on and how you focus. So the consequence is structural
change in the brain that produces behavior because we operate
from what we have built into our brain.” (p.107)

Did you catch that?

Your thinking causes genetic expression to happen and structurally
changes your brain.

You literally become what you think.

Like that proverb, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.”

(Proverbs 23:7)

What’s this have to do with your KB workouts?

Simple.

If you want to get the results you’re looking for from your KB
workouts, you must PRACTICE each of the KB exercises.

It’s not simply good enough to show up and swing, snatch, or
press your KB.

You must be present and direct your attention.

You won’t “own” the movements otherwise, and your results will
suffer.

Meaning, you won’t get as strong or as lean as you’re expecting
because you’re not fully engaged in the process.

That’s why I’m not a big fan of high reps in KB training. (Heck,
any training.) It becomes too hard to maintain your attention
span.

Instead of doing lots of reps per set, focus on your technique and
do multiple sets.

And practice with moderate weights.

Regardless of what your goal is: Strength, fat loss, conditioning.

It’s this sort of mindful practice, slow as it may seem at first,
that will deliver the long term results you’re looking for.

One of the best ways to achieve any of your goals – especially
strength and fat loss – is to use a pair of kettlebells.

However, you must use the Quantum Zeno Effect to use them correctly.

That’s why I created “Kettlebell STRONG!”.

It’s a 3.5 hour 2-DVD set and an 89-page manual designed to take
you step-by-step through all the major double kettlebell exercises:

– Double Swing
– Double Press
– Double Push Press
– Double Front Squat
– Double High Pull
– Double Clean
– Double Snatch
– Double Jerk
– Double Clean + Jerk

However, you won’t learn them in that order.

Why not?

Because we’re going to use a concept of “technique stacking,” which
allows you to take full advantage of the QZE –

One lift re-enforces the next… and the next… and the next…

And before you know it, you’ll be lifting your KBs like an unstoppable
machine, hunting down your strength and fat loss goals one at a time.
