See if you can guess.
Is it finding the right size KB?
Or the “right” program?
Or finding the time? (Like we discussed last week.)
Or the right diet?
What do you think?
I’ll tell you what I’ve discovered.
First, have you ever met a “Debbie Downer?”
You know, one of those people who’s always negative?
You ask “How’s it going?”
And he or she responds with, “Oh… ok, I guess, considering the circumstances…”
And then he or she goes on to tell you just how bad everything is.
All the time.
These people are the ones with the perpetual frowns.
Ever meet them?
Yeah… Me too.
I generally do my best to steer clear of them.
Life already has enough challenges.
I don’t need someone’s poor attitude trying to jump on me.
Which brings me to my point –
The hardest part about swinging – or doing anything with a KB – to lose fat is how you view it.
How you think about it.
Hence my question earlier – What do you think?
Did you catch that?
See – and this is the part that you’ll be tempted to gloss over – to skip –
Because it doesn’t seem like it has any value –
Or that it’s not doing anything positive –
It’s how you view or how you think about your workouts and losing fat that really determines your outcome –
Whether you’ll actually workout at all and of course do the things that you need to do to drop those extra 10, 20, 30… or more pounds.
Do you think losing fat is hard?
Then it will be.
You can literally program yourself fat or thin.
“As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.”
Or the PC version –
“As a person thinks in his/her heart, so is he/she.”
You get my point.
There is no escaping this.
If you’re not sure what you think or believe –
Listen to the words that come out of your mouth.
Jesus said –
(“Oh no, he’s trying to cram religion down my throat!”
Relax there, Killer, I’m just using this as a piece of wisdom.)
“Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.”
The point is, what’s inside of you is what comes out.
What does this have to do with swinging a KB to lose fat?
If you think this whole fat loss thing is hard, then it will be.
If you think it’s easy, then, guess what?
It will be.
This is not verbal gymnastics.
This stuff is very, very real.
Those who are successful in life – in any endeavor – see themselves as successful in their minds first.
Do they have to overcome obstacles?
There are always obstacles.
But what you’ve determined on the inside of you is how you’ll respond to those obstacles.
So, if you’re struggling with this whole fat loss thing or things aren’t going the way you want them to –
Take a “TV time out” like they used to do back in the 70s.
And take a look at your thoughts.
How do you honestly view this whole fat loss thing?
Is it hard or easy?
Start telling yourself that it’s easy and I promise you it will start becoming so.
Get a vision on the inside of you of how you will look in a few weeks and months.
See yourself lean.
See yourself thin.
See yourself muscular.
See yourself as how you want to be not how you are.
Then tell yourself it’s easy to get there.
And it will start to become so.
And then only speak what you want and where you want to go.
Don’t speak what you have (“I’m fat… *sigh*…” ) because you’ll only get more of the same.
And that my friend, is how you overcome the hardest part of losing fat – kettlebell or sans kettlebell.
P.S. Losing fat – or rather getting lean – is a process, not a one-shot deal.
And it starts in your mind.
See it there first, then as long as you follow up the “vision” in your head with the “doing” of the kettlebell and eating things – you WILL SUCCEED.
